Privacy Policy
(updated 10/08/2020)
Who I am
My name is Catherine Budworth. I live in the UK. I am a sole trader. I teach at and manage a stage school called Theatre Cats. I have one website with an associated mailing list:
www.Theatrecats.co.uk
What information do I collect?
I collect the email addresses and phone numbers of people who have signed up to my email list via the sign-up link on my website/Facebook page. Often this is when a parent or guardian is looking for theatre classes for their child. This information is stored on Mailchimp.
The email addresses of people who have emailed me directly are automatically saved by my email provider, as is usually the case, but I don’t add them to my mailing list without further consent.
What am I going to do with your information?
I collect my readers’ email addresses and phone numbers – if they want to sign up – because from time to time I like to send out promotional emails, to let people know about my classes, or I share interesting information about Theatre Cats in regards to summer schools, staff, performances, workshops, term dates etc. My first contact with yourself is normal an invite for your child to attend a free taster class (as long as we have spaces available in said class.) It’s up to you whether you want to share your email with me, and you can unsubscribe at any time, by writing to me, or by clicking the ‘unsubscribe’ link at the bottom of any of my emails.
Who will your information will be shared with?
I simply use your email address and phone number to send you the information listed above. You’ll be added to my mailing list when you sign-up. I use Mailchimp to do this. I don’t share your information with anyone, and I don’t send out unrelated material, like random adverts or spam.
Log Data
Like many site operators, this site may begin to collect information that your browser sends whenever you visit this site (This is called “Log Data”). Like many site operators, this site may use third party services such as Google Analytics collect, monitor and analyze this type of information in order to increase its functionality. Third party service providers have their own privacy policies addressing how they use such information.
Cookies
Cookies are files with small amount of data, which may include an anonymous unique identifier. Cookies are sent to your browser from a web site and stored on your computer’s hard drive. Like many sites, this site may use “cookies” to collect information. You can instruct your browser to refuse all cookies or to indicate when a cookie is being sent.
General Data Protection Regulation Compliance
Awareness of GDPR
Because I run a freelance business, I’m a sole trader, so I’m responsible for the data I collect and for making sure I treat it securely. There’s no one else in my organisation that I need to make aware. If in future I employ an assistant, I will make sure they are aware of GDPR, but I have no plans to do that at present.
I have read the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) guidelines for compliance with the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) rules. The ICO is my lead data protection supervisory authority.
Steps I have taken
These are the steps I will have taken by 25th May 2018:
I have put this privacy statement on my website.
I have added GDPR compliance to my Mailchimp settings.
I regularly audit the way I handle data, using ICO guidelines.
Seeing or deleting the data I hold
If you write to me and ask, I will delete your data from Mailchimp.
If you would like to see the data I am holding for you – most likely your email address and phone number – I will email you to confirm.
Mailchimp will automatically remove your email if you unsubscribe from my mailing list using the link at the bottom of my emails.
I aim to respond to all requests to see or delete data within three working days. If I am away from my desk for any reason, such as a holiday or illness, you may have to wait longer, as I am a sole trader.
Lawful basis for processing data
If you have signed-up to my mailing list, you will receive promotional emails, to let people know about my classes, or I share interesting information about Theatre Cats in regards to summer schools, staff, performances, workshops, term dates etc. I assume that you’re interested in these things because you registered your child's interest in my stage school. You can unsubscribe if you’d rather not receive this information.
Consent
Because consent is not indefinite, I remind subscribers that they can unsubscribe in each email I sent out.
Data breaches
In order to prevent against data breaches, I have password protected my computer and Mailchimp accounts. If there were data breaches at Mailchimp I would follow their guidelines as soon as I became aware. If I the information on my mailing lists were compromised, I would inform those people on my lists as soon as possible.
